The seeds of the new progressive blogosphere

(cross-posted at Reclusive Leftist)

A list is taking shape of those political bloggers who are either pro-Hillary or at least fair in their coverage of the candidates — in other words, bloggers who aren’t raving Clinton-hating Obamabots. Versions of this emerging blogroll are popping up here and there; the one below is cobbled together from lists at Tennessee Guerilla Women, The Hillary 1000, and a couple of other places.

Why does this list matter? It’s not merely a question of knowing where to go for misogyny-free political commentary. These are the seeds of a new progressive blogosphere in the making. The Obamabots are poisoning the original netroots, transforming what used to be an arena for progressive politics into nothing more than a rabid, mindless He-Man Woman-Haters club. The Democratic Party — or at least the high-visibility Obamabot segment — is morphing into the Young Republicans: all the misogyny and callowness and ignorance and blind hero-worship of the old GOP, but with a self-congratulatory aura of imaginary cool to make the YouTube generation feel at home.

And where does that leave the women of America?

I’m going to have more to say about that in the coming days. But right now I just want to get a start on that list. It’s very much a work in progress, so feel free to help me out with suggestions. Who else should be here? Who doesn’t belong?

This is an awesome concept!! The idea that Obama has claimed to own (and been crowned by party powers entitled to) the progressive wing of the party has bothered me greatly for weeks.
Guess who’s campaign and work as President is going to empower the greatest number of followers?

This is a fantastic idea! Here are a few more great pro-Hillary sites:

WOW_ there are a lot of us! I AM HONRED TO BE ON THE LIST! I would like to open my blog to other writers to cross-post- let me know if that is good! I do post links there- man is my blogroll gonna grow! (but not today- i have canvassing to do and am working the polls tomorrow!)
Go Hillary!

Thanks, folks! Mystic4hill, I’ve added in your suggestions.

Thanks for including me in such a distinguished list of blogs. I’d like to suggest that you add Blue Spot (http://bluespotblog.com/) to the list.

Thanks for the linky love. What a great concept.

Go Hillary!!

Thanks for including us MOMocrats!

Thanks for the link, Violet. As you know, and as I feel compelled to reveal here, I am an Obama supporter, and am actively working for his election by doing voter protection work in various Southern states.

But I am also a Clinton supporter in the sense that I think she has a lot to offer and would be a fine President if that is how things turn out. And I despise the sexism that has been part of this campaign.

Other bloggers at FLP have a wide varity of views. I speak only for myself.

Don’t want to debate anybody here on anything I’ve said above. Just felt obliged to be honest about where I stand personally. Thanks.

Ann, I know you’re an Obama supporter, but you don’t need to apologize for it. You’re always decent and feminist and utterly fair to Hillary — and you’re the kind of Obama supporter I wish there were more of. I’m proud to have you on the list.

Thank you Violet Socks & Motherlode for the plug.

Wow, thanks for including me on this list! We really must promote feminist bloggers, and this is a great way to do so. I will be adding this soon to Yikes!

Pat I agree with your comment. Maybe that’s why HRC’s campaign hasn’t been successful with the relationship with the media and some of the people. It’s because B Hussein’s campaign has been campaigning, behaving, and supporters are projecting Obama’s ENTITLEMENT to the Presidency. Maybe its a way for reparation for the racial issue that’s omnipresent in American society. This isn’t to agree with Obama’s speech, mind you. He may have given that speech to draw the attention away from his mistakes and his accountability and turned it into the race issue. It is however, a stigma in this society and the black culture. However, some African Americans won’t let go of that history either. “They” will use that part of history to make their cause and claim, hence, we come to the ENTITLEMENT.

Maybe it’s just the way this society has become?! Disrespectful. B Hussein’s supporters manifests those attributes-arrogant, narcissistic, misogynistS, self-righteous, full of super ego. Or rather, some of the old world male characteristics have once again surfaced?! These characteristics are true for some conservative men, women and KKK. These may sound radical but if you look at how B Hussein Obama’s supporters and the media have been acting it justifies what I’ve stated. However, frank my statements have been, you might find it correct. We have been so caught up in political correctness and fearful of offending people because we are “civil”. Well, the Obamabots haven’t been all that civil and frankly, they are pretty crass. Yet, they are “SUPPOSEDLY” educated supporters!!!

I think this is a great idea, Violet.

But please tell me none of the actual bloggers on this list refer to him as “B. Hussein,” as Karen did above. ‘Cause wow, I wouldn’t want to be a part of that “progressive” blogosphere, either.

But please tell me none of the actual bloggers on this list refer to him as “B. Hussein,” as Karen did above.

Kate, I sure hope not. I certainly haven’t seen that.

Karen, I disagree with your comment. I disagree with calling him “Hussein” — he didn’t choose his own middle name, and even if he did, people named Hussein are not evil, for heaven’s sake.

Also I disagree with your assessment that there is an inappropriate sense of entitlement in the AA community.

I’ve just updated the list with suggestions that came in over at Reclusive Leftist.

TheCityEdition.com, a San Francisco based publication, has an analysis and commentary about the overt and covert way the primaries have been manipulated. Here are links to two articles that are supportive of Senator Clinton.

Wow, thanks for the add! No wonder I had so much new traffic! :O)

Thanks so much for including us at Liberal Rapture!

The site I’d suggest is:
http://thirdestatesundayreview.blogspot.com/

You’ve got a mixture of gender, races, ethnicity and sexuality working on articles and you get Ava and C.I.’s feminist commentaries each week which have revealed the ugly side of the left. We seem to be playing like, “What’s up?” It’s not a ‘what’s up,’ it’s an organized hit on Hillary. Ava and C.I. have demonstrated how guests who endorse Barack get booked on shows like Democracy Now and Amy Goodman never tells the audience that. It’s a supposed ‘free’ exchange, but she limits it to Barack supporters. Then there’s Melissa Harris Lacewell, part of the Obama campaign as she herself sometimes admits, presented by both Charlie Rose and Amy Goodman as an objective source. On Charlie Rose, he had journalists and Melissa. The journalists were not working for a campaign. And like Amy Goodman, Rose didn’t tell viewers Harris Lacewell was part of the Obama campaign. It must be nice to get a seat at the roundtable to push your candidate when the other side isn’t offered a seat as well.

Please add my site to your fine list. http://blatherwatch.blogs.com It’s hard living in te liberal bubble o Seattle and questioning Obama’s omnipotence.
Obama is weakening by the day as a candidate. I agree with Rachel Maddow: McCain will win this thing.

Thanks so much for this. It was about time rational people were making themselves heard. I’ll be checking all the links (some of them like Bartcop , Wolcott and digby are old friends of course)

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. Keep ‘em coming. I’m going to do an update in the next day or two (sorry, I’ve been really busy and have had some connectivity issues).

I’ve added in some more names! Thanks for the suggestions, folks.

My blog is pro-Hillary, although it’s not about her all the time. I am critical of the Democratic party, but I am pro-feminist and pro-Hillary in general.

I don’t know what happened, a commenting glitch, but I meant to add this website as pro-hillary to my last comment and for some reason it my typing to the email line! Anyway, here is the blog:
