Clinton wins by 35 percert in Kentucky - Axelrod announces Betsy Ross and Abe Lincoln to endorse Obama from their graves on Wednesday. (by John: south of Melrose at Liberal Rapture)
Another huge win for Clinton in a swing state.
KY/OR/Obama self-coronation thread #2 (by lambert at Corrente)
10:37 PM KY H 65 - 30 = 35 (100%).That’s it. Of course, only racists vote for Clinton, so it doesn’t really matter. Double shot? Cinnamon? Check the background. What are these “votes” of which you speak?

Just sayin. I mean, I understand where Obama’s coming from completely, but completely — disenfranchising two states and suppressing the vote in others is a critically important quality in seeming Presidential, and naturally Obama would be concerned with that. Why, just look at George Bush! The photo above is from Agence France Presse. This one is from AP:

My goodness! They cropped out the signage, didn’t they? Somehow, “Count The Vote” turned into “Vote”…. They know the drill…
Clinton calls victory in Kentucky a vote of confidence
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Hillary Rodham Clinton cast her victory in Kentucky as an overwhelming vote of confidence Tuesday and said she’s still running for president not to demonstrate that she’s tough but to ensure that Democrats retake the White House.
CLINTON RAISES $22 MILLION IN APRIL (First Read, MSNBC)
Her campaign confirms that Clinton raised $22 million in April, which is about a third less than Obama’s haul. However, it’s her second-best month to date.
Obama inching ever closer to nomination
Barack Obama is inching ever closer to locking up the Democratic presidential nomination despite another resounding loss to Hillary Rodham Clinton, this time in Kentucky.

Obama, CNN, NBC Do Not Count Florida and Michigan (by Big Tent Democrat at TalkLeft)
CNN, along with NBC, at the behest of the Barack Obama campaign, will pretend Florida and Michigan do not exist. They will declare that Barack Obama has won a majority of the pledged delegates in the Dem race. They will declare that 2.3 million voters in Florida and Michigan do not exist. This is not only outrageous of these news organizations, it is monumentally stupid of the Obama campaign… He has handed Hillary Clinton the most appealing battle cry a politician could possibly have - count the votes. Donna Brazile and Keith Olbermann and the other Obama surrogates can scream about the RULZ. Hillary Clinton can fight for the votes!
Clinton Puts Up A New Fight (Washington Post)
Women of all ages and nationalities push against the rope line carrying books and T-shirts, posters and stuffed animals — anything for her to autograph. They tote huge signs that shout “Hillary Cares About Me”– and they tearfully grab her hand to implore her to stick it out, to take her trailing campaign all the way to the Democratic convention in Denver. They say they have come to show support for Hillary Clinton not merely because she is a woman or because her campaign is breaking historic ground, but because she speaks to them about their real problems and they are furious at the way she has been treated… And so as her Democratic opponent refers to her politely in the past tense, and the likely Republican presidential nominee simply ignores her, and the pundits snicker that she’s delusional and should just step aside already, she is a woman definitely not preparing her remarks for a graceful exit anytime soon. And that’s what her supporters want to hear.
NBC Dismisses The People Of Puerto Rico (by Big Tent Democrat at TalkLeft)
And it begins. Chris Matthews tonight and previously. Keith Olbermann and Dana Milbank did it before. Puerto Rico is a big joke to them. The DNC said they have a say in the process of deciding who our nominee will be. But count their votes? Not to the bigots at NBC. The ugly racism and bigotry of NBC now joins the previously ugly sexism and misogyny… Here is Andrea Mitchell’s dumb statement of the night. Obama can’t pick Hillary because it messes up his change message soooo he CAN pick SENATOR Evan Bayh or Governor Ed Rendell. How stupid can you get? Chris Matthews LIES again, claiming Obama won the young voters in Kentucky. He is simply LYING. Clinton won the 17-29 group by 20 points. And now the education lie from NBC. Clinton won the college educated by 60-34. The Obama News Network marches on.
Clinton horns in on Obama’s planned trip to Florida (McClatchy)
Seeking to trip up Barack Obama’s march to the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton plans to overlap with his much-ballyhooed trip to Florida that begins Wednesday.
HORNS IN, McClatchy? Does Obama own the state of Florida? Clinton isn’t allowed to go there without his permission?
On To Florida (by Taylor Marsh)

An Unnatural Disaster (by Michael Hirsh, Newsweek)
U.S. government literally broke down during the Bush years. The interagency process was destroyed as Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld set up what was effectively a “black” alternative government (the veep’s shadow national security council, and Doug Feith’s Office of Special Plans at the Pentagon). The White House treated its coequal branch, Congress, like an interloper (to the annoyance of Republicans as well as Democrats). Junk science infected the policy-making apparatus on key issues of importance to our allies in Europe and Asia, like global warming. Junk legal reasoning by White House and Justice Department lawyers was used to publicly justify torture, decimating our once high moral stature around the world. Junk economics—an excess of free-market fervor—infected the Federal Reserve and other regulators, who slumbered while Wall Street ran amok selling fraudulent mortgage securities to foreign markets. Congress went to sleep while the administration ran up record deficits. (The fallout from the subprime debacle and budget imbalance has cost us as much prestige in the economic sphere as Iraq has cost us in the foreign policy arena.) The Department of Homeland Security, misconceived and oversized even at its birth, grew into an unmanageable monstrosity.
The obvious person to fix this mess is Hillary Clinton.
A Fifth Top Aide to McCain Resigns
Tom Loeffler, the national finance co-chairman for Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign, resigned yesterday because of his lobbying ties, a campaign adviser said. He is the fifth person to sever ties with the campaign amid a growing concern over whether lobbyists have too great an influence over the Republican nominee.
Obama seizes on McCain lobbyist ties (Politico)
BILLINGS, Mont. — Democrat Barack Obama on Monday seized upon John McCain’s efforts to shed his campaign of lobbyist ties, saying the Republican’s campaign “is being run by Washington lobbyists and paid for with their money.” “We need a president who sees government not as a tool to enrich friends and high-priced lobbyists, but as the defender of fairness and opportunity for every American,” Obama said at a town hall meeting here. Obama said McCain has been a candidate for more than a year, but it was only after stories surfaced about his aides’ work for various interests that he “took any action to curb their roles.”
What about your own lobbyist ties, Senator Obama? Isn’t the co-chair of your campaign, Tom Daschle, a lobbyist?
Talking Versus Doing (by David Brooks, New York Times)
Farm net income is up 56 percent over the past two years, yet the farm bill plows subsidies into agribusinesses, thoroughbred breeders and the rest. The growers of nearly every crop will get more money… Barack Obama talks about taking on the special interests. This farm bill would have been a perfect opportunity to do so. But Obama supported the bill, just as he supported the 2005 energy bill that was a Christmas tree for the oil and gas industries. Obama’s support may help him win Iowa, but it will lead to higher global food prices and more hunger in Africa. Moreover, it raises questions about how exactly he expects to bring about the change that he promises.
John McCain opposed the farm bill. In an impassioned speech on Monday, he declared: “It would be hard to find any single bill that better sums up why so many Americans in both parties are so disappointed in the conduct of their government, and at times so disgusted by it.”… [I]n this issue, McCain may have found a theme to unify his so far scattershot campaign. He has always been an awkward ideological warrior. In any case, this year may not be the best year for Republicans to launch a right versus left crusade. But McCain has infinitely better grounds than Obama to run as a do-what-it-takes reformer. He has a long record of taking on not only the other party, but his own.
Of course, you and I know that McCain isn’t the maverick the media make him out to be. But this is how it will play out, if Obama manages to secure the Democratic nomination.
The Local (by John B. Judis, The New Republic)
The Teamsters in Chicago are continually linked to organized crime–so why is a presidential candidate from that city promising to end federal oversight of the union?
Because Obama is no reformer. When he signed on with Daley, he endorsed one of the most corrupt aldermen because that’s what Daley wanted him to do.
James Baker: ‘Talking to an enemy is not, in my view, appeasement.’ (Think Progress)
In an October, 2006 appearance on Fox News, James A. Baker, Secretary of State during the first Bush administration, emphatically challenged the notion that talking to adversaries constitutes “appeasement”: “BAKER: You don’t just talk to your friends, you talk to your enemies as well. Diplomacy involves talking to your enemies. You don’t reward your enemies necessarily by talking to them if you are tough and you know what you are doing. You don’t appease them. Talking to an enemy is not in my view appeasement.”
Why is Bush family (especially George H.W. Bush) minion James Baker defending Barack Obama? Remember, Obama praised the foreign policy of Reagan and Daddy Bush, purposely dissing Clinton. Click through to watch the video.
Ad/media whiz McKinnon is leaving McCain campaign (On Politics, USA Today)
Mark McKinnon, the media guru who was instrumental in both of George W. Bush’s presidential campaigns and who has been working on Republican Sen. John McCain’s 2008 effort, is following through on a pledge he made not to work against Democratic Sen. Barack Obama. At The Washington Post’s The Fix blog, Chris Cillizza reports that McKinnon confirms he’s on the way out and says that he will “be transitioning, shifting position from linebacker to head cheerleader.”
Why does Bush pollster McKinnon refuse to work against Obama?
McCain: Keep Cuba embargo in place (McClatchy)
Provoking emotional outbursts from a friendly Latin American audience in Miami, Republican presidential contender John McCain assailed Democrat Barack Obama for his willingness to talk to Cuba and his opposition to free trade with Colombia.
